Jaron McCree - Founder/President

    Founded in 2014 by Jaron McCree, Waves of the Wise was created from a simple but powerful vision: to provide young people with access to the kind of guidance, enrichment, mentorship, and support that can help shape their future. Growing up in his hometown of Saint Petersburg, Florida, Jaron saw firsthand how meaningful programs, positive spaces, and strong community support could leave a lasting impact on students. After settling in Hampton Roads, he recognized that same need locally and felt called to create something with that same spirit.

    

    What began as a small ripple has been blessed to grow into a larger movement of service, encouragement, and opportunity. While youth remain at the heart of the organization’s mission, Waves of the Wise has grown to serve a broader picture: supporting students, families, military-connected households, the special needs community, and neighbors in need through education, outreach, resource-based events, mentorship, scholarships, and community partnerships.

 

    Through this work, Waves of the Wise strives to help individuals and families feel more prepared, connected, and supported. The heart of the organization is rooted in the belief that when people are given access, encouragement, and the right village around them, they can move forward with greater confidence and purpose.

 

    Today, Waves of the Wise is led by a team and board made up of people with shared values, lived experience, and a genuine investment in education, service, and community care. Together, they continue building on the vision that started in 2014: creating meaningful waves of impact throughout Hampton Roads and beyond.
